THE 40th CAMBRIDGESHIRE SENIOR TOURNAMENT 2007
A TOURNAMENT IN THE BADMINTON ENGLAND SATELLITE CIRCUIT

The Cambridgeshire Open Badminton Tournament, which attracted a record entry, was held at Burwell Sports Centre and saw Daniel Plant (Essex) take the Mens Singles title for the sixth successive year.

In the final he beat the unseeded John Davenport (Lancs) by 21-17 21-17.

In the semi-final Plant overcame Ian Murphy (Norfolk), last year's beaten finalist 17-21 21-17 21-15. In coming through to the final, Davenport beat the number two seed, James Allinson (Yorks) 21-19 12-21 21-12.

The Ladies Singles title went to Sarah Walker (Essex). Last year she missed out in the final but with the holder not defending, she was able to take her opportunity. In the final Sarah defeated fellow England Junior Laura Cousins (Herts) 21-17 21-13.

The final of the Mens Doubles was contested by two unseeded pairs. Chris Dakin and Chris Roe (both Warwicks) who had previously defeated the second seeds beat Handal Suryaputra (Warwicks) and Michael Whitehouse (Berks) 21-11 21-17.

Catherine Grant (Warwicks) and Samantha Ward (Surrey) retained their Ladies doubles title when they defeated Katie Comras (Herts) and Sarah Walker 21-13 21-15. The Cambridgeshire pairing of Olga Bryant and Katherine Young did extremely well and reached the semi-final, only to lose out to Grant and Ward 21-17 21-15.

Olga Bryant also did well in the Mixed Doubles. In partnership with Richard Fryer they reached the quarter-final before missing out to the eventual winners Chris Roe and Catherine Grant 21-10 21-18. In the final Roe and Grant defeated Adam Smith (Avon) and Charity Barnes (Herts) 21-13 21-13.
